Accommodation Matters podcast: New series
26 March 2021
In September, we launched the Accommodation Matters podcast – bringing sector experts together to discuss the Higher Education sector’s key issues through the lens of student accommodation. Today marks the launch of Season 2, with our first episode being on the ever-relevant topic of environmental sustainability.
Sustainability covers a broad range of concerns, including environmental issues, economics, social justice movements, health and beyond. Indeed, at Unite Students, our new Sustainability Strategy includes environmental, wellbeing and diversity commitments among others. We’ll look further at some of these topics in future episodes of the podcast.
In this edition, our expert panel will be discussing environmental sustainability. With climate change protests, strikes and activism hitting the headlines in recent years, the higher education sector cannot look away – and nor will its students let it.
Darren Ellis, Higher Education Engagement Director at Unite Students, returns as host, and he’s joined by:
• Andy Nolan, Development and Sustainability Director at the University of Nottingham
• Jade Monroe, Interim Director of Education at SOS UK, the National Union of Students’ sustainability charity
• James Tiernan, Head of Energy and Environment at Unite Students
They’ll be discussing why sustainability movements have gained traction in recent years; how sustainability is relevant to the Higher Education sector; and what universities, accommodation providers and students are doing to shape a more sustainable world. Whether you’re a sustainability expert or just getting started on your sustainability journey, there’s something to be learned by all.
