Unite Students completes purchase of 263,000 sq ft development in prime London location – 23 September 2014
11 November 2016
Unite Students, the UK’s leading manager and developer of student accommodation, today announces completion of the purchase of a 1.4 acre site in Islington, central London.
The Zone Two development will provide a home for 862 students studying in the capital and has a target completion of summer 2016. The site, Stapleton House, is located on Holloway Road and was acquired from London Metropolitan University in 2013 subject to planning permission, which was achieved in March 2014.
The property has been designed to provide students with a home for success. With excellent transport routes providing access to London’s top universities, the plans include generous amounts of space for both socialising and studying, including a courtyard and several terraces. With state-of-the-art LED lighting, high-speed 20Mb Wi-Fi and 24-hour security Stapleton House will enable students to achieve more during their time at university – whether that is academic achievement, personal growth or being ready for the world of work.
The development will contribute to the regeneration of the local area through the provision of community space, and commercial units for local businesses on the ground floor.
Unite Students managing director of property Richard Simpson said:
“I am pleased to announce the completion of Stapleton House. London is home to over 350,000 students and there is a growing need for well managed purpose-built student accommodation in good locations.
The size and scale of this development, in such a prime central location makes this a significant addition to our portfolio, It comes as development in the capital is more challenging than ever due to rising land and build costs and this will strengthen our existing presence in the London student accommodation market.”
This new scheme forms part of Unite Students London development pipeline alongside projects at Wembley Park and Angel Lane, Stratford.
